Janice Minjin Yang's Portfolio

Janice Yang is a figurative painter and an illustrator. She was originally born in Connecticut but moved to South Korea when she was three and came back to the U.S. at the age of sixteen. This cross-cultural experience has had an enormous impact on her life and her work. She became interested in issues regarding identity, immigration, and multiculturalism. Her paintings are the reflections of her life and the people that she engages with. Often her subjects are American immigrants that experience cultural tensions and are in search of finding identity.

Yang studied Illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, OR. She received the National Scholastic Art Award and was a Golden Foundation Art Resident in 2021. Janice has exhibited in various places including New York, London, Seattle, and Seoul. She is represented by Blackfish Gallery in Portland, OR.
